When people talk about the challenges they’re facing, I often find myself saying:
“There’s counselling for that.”
Because there is!
For more than 30 years, I’ve worked in psychology and mental health, supporting individuals and couples through trauma, relationship struggles, anxiety, sexual concerns, burnout, and major life transitions. Over time, I’ve come to believe something deeply:
Most of us are incredibly resilient.
But sometimes we shouldn’t have to do it alone.
Here on Hornby Island, and working with clients throughout British Columbia, I offer counselling that is grounded, experienced, and deeply relational. My clients often tell me they feel truly heard – sometimes for the first time. That sense of being understood is often where real change begins.
Listening to someone’s story is both an honour and a responsibility. I don’t rush it. I don’t judge it. And I don’t reduce it to a diagnosis.
A Specialized, Integrative Approach
As a senior clinician, I draw from several evidence-based and depth-oriented approaches, tailoring therapy to who you are and what you need.
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help resolve trauma, anxiety, and experiences that still feel charged or unfinished.
- Somatic therapy to work gently with how stress and trauma are held in the nervous system and body.
- Couples and sex therapy to support communication, intimacy, desire, repair, and reconnection.
- Psychedelic-assisted therapy (where appropriate and legal) to facilitate insight, integration, and meaningful transformation.
- Mindfulness-based and cognitive approaches to build practical skills that support everyday resilience.
Some clients arrive with a specific goal:
“I keep getting triggered.”
“We can’t communicate without it escalating.”
“I don’t understand what’s happening in my body.”
Others simply know something isn’t working anymore.
Whether you live on Hornby Island, elsewhere in BC, or are seeking online counselling, therapy can offer a steady, experienced presence alongside you – someone who knows how to navigate complexity without losing sight of hope.
When a challenge feels bigger than your usual coping strategies, when it keeps repeating, or feels heavier than it should,
There’s counselling for that.
And I would be honoured to walk with you.

In the spirit of reconciliation, I want to acknowledge that I live, work, and play on unceded K’ómoks First Nation land. I am forever grateful to offer services in the traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation (Hornby Island). Their historical relationships with the land continue.
My practice supports the LGBTQ+ community and honours all gender identities and sexual preferences.
